We are committed to protecting your customer information in every transaction, at every level of our organization.
Any and all information you provide to the Hypervelocity Impact Symposium, the Hypervelocity Impact Society, and the Institute for Advanced Technology will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, rented, loaned, or otherwise disclosed to anyone other than the parties it is intended for. Any information you provide will be held with the utmost care, and will not be used in any way that you have not consented to. If you have any questions, please let us know.
The IAT Web servers host several websites, including HVIS sites, and generate temporary logs that contain the following information:
- Internet address of computer being used
- Web pages requested
- Referring Web page
- Browser used (as in some cases, what platform the browser is rnning on.)
- Date and Time
- Network Address of the visiting computer.
The data is used in aggregate by system administrators and Web content managers to tune the Web site for its efficiency and is not ordinarily associated with specific individuals. Raw data from the Web server logs is only shared with the content manager of each Web site. Summary reports produced from the logs help Web publishers determine what Web browsers are used most and what pages are visited frequently.
Resale or disclosure of information to third parties:
We do not sell, rent, or lease any personal information collected at our site, including membership lists or email lists.
Information collected on the website:
We do not collect information about our website users. Our website logs are not personally identifiable, and we make no attempt to link them with the individuals that actually browse the site.
Use of cookies:
Cookies are small pieces of data stored by the Web browser. Cookies are often used to remember information about preferences and pages you have visited. For example, when you visit some sites on the Web you might see a "Welcome Back" message. The first time you visited the site a cookie was probably set on your computer; when you return, the cookie is read again. You can refuse to accept cookies, can disable cookies, and remove cookies from your hard drive. Please refer to your Web browser documentation regarding how to configure the cookie storage behavior.
Some IAT Web servers may also use cookies to retain user preference information. It is against IAT policy to share this information with external third parties.
Online Information Submission:
The IAT is a University Affiliated Research Center of The University of Texas. At any time there are numerous online information submission being conducted on IAT Web sites. It is IAT policy that confidential information gathered in these online information submission is used only for the research or official purposes indicated on the form. Unless otherwise noted on the specified form, your answers are confidential and individual responses will not be shared with other parties unless required by the Texas Public Information Act. Aggregate data from online information submissions may be shared with external third parties.
Privacy of our email lists:
The Institute for Advanced Technology maintains a customer mailing list to keep customers informed about the events that might be of interest to them. Customers are added to this list only when they enter their name and contact information by clicking the “add your name to our mailing list” link. Customers may request to be removed from this list by sending an email to opt_out@iat.utexas.edu. The Institute for Advanced Technology does not sell, rent, or lease the addresses on this list to anyone.
Credit Card Transactions:
For your protection, credit card payments are processed through Authorize.Net. The Authorize.Net Payment Gateway provides secure passage for credit card transaction data via a 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Internet Protocol (IP) connection.
Authorize.Net protects sensitive customer information using the highest levels of encryption and security protocols available in the industry.
Open Records Requests:
Except for educational records governed by FERPA, all information collected from the IAT Web site (including HVIS sites), including the summary server log information, e-mails sent to the Web site, and information collected from Web-based forms, may be subject to the Texas Public Information Act.
